What about me??

Nice to meet you, I’m Kat.
I started photography in 2018, initially shooting senior portraits and sports. What began with friends quickly turned into steady sessions and real experience behind the camera.
Before that, I had already been immersed in creative classes — digital photography, video editing, Photoshop, graphic design, along with years of art classes throughout my childhood. That foundation is what first sparked my interest and helped me understand both the technical and creative sides of the work.
As I kept shooting, it became clear this wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was something I wanted to build seriously. In 2020, I officially established my business and committed to growing it long-term.

Over the course of the last eight years, I’ve done over 900+ photoshoots and worked with over 200+ clients. I have met so many incredible artists, business owners, families, models, and creative individuals like myself. I am so endlessly grateful for my job and truly love what I do.
After establishing my business in 2020, I started a collective of models, photographers, videographers, filmmakers, small businesses, HMUA teams, stylists, musicians, and more. We all work together to curate palpable art and build a continuously growing community.
This community is still thriving today and is known as Philm Community here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Not only am I taking the photos and creative directing, but I’m also connecting friends and clients with the people they need on their team.
I also curate a yearly magazine, Philm Magazine, promoting local artists. It helps fund the community events, meetups, studio spaces, and workshops I host throughout the year.

Today, my work centers around lifestyle and portrait photography inspired by film and cinema. Whether I’m working with brands, artists, couples, or families, my approach stays consistent. It is intentional, story-driven, and grounded in strong visual direction.
Over the years, I’ve built experience across multiple spaces, from fashion and branding to weddings and behind-the-scenes coverage, allowing me to adapt while maintaining a clear creative identity.
I’m currently attending the University of New Mexico, pursuing a degree in Film & Digital Arts with a focus on photography, filmmaking, and community collaboration. Continuing my education while actively running my business is important to me. I’m always refining my craft, strengthening my technical skills, and pushing myself creatively.
I don’t believe in staying stagnant. Growth, collaboration, and evolving as an artist are central to how I operate.
My goal is to continue expanding Philm Community, grow Philm Magazine, and create intentional work that feels cinematic, collaborative, and lasting.
When you work with me, you’re working with someone experienced, adaptable, and committed to creating more than just images, but work that feels like something.
Growing up, my parents always had a film or point-and-shoot camera with them in the early 2000s. That nostalgia stuck with me, and it’s a big part of why I create the way I do today in both my work and personal life.

Digital photography is where precision meets presence.
Even when working digitally, I take inspiration from film with its textures, tones, and cinematic framing. This approach creates images that feel layered, intentional, and alive. Digital work allows for flexibility and experimentation while keeping the mood and storytelling of film at the heart of every image.
-
Film photography preserves emotion.
Shooting on 35mm film slows the process and encourages care and intuition. Each frame is chosen with intention, capturing moments that feel nostalgic, cinematic, and human. Film reflects the heart of Philm, offering work that is thoughtful and timeless.
-
Motion photography captures story and movement within a single frame.
I draw inspiration from movie scenes and pop culture to create dynamic, cinematic compositions that feel alive. This approach brings energy, atmosphere, and storytelling into every image.
